Monolithic (ingredients in adhesive)
The active ingredients and other selected excipients are directly incorporated into the adhesive solution, mixed, cast as a thin film and cured, leaving a dried adhesive matrix film containing the active ingredient and excipients. This active ingredient in adhesive matrix is sandwiched between release liner and backing layer.
Monolithic patches excel in short-term applications, up to 36 hours. They also allow you to print directly on the patch, maximizing your branding opportunities. The final appearance of monolithic patches is flat.
1: Active Ingredient incorporated into medical-grade acrylic adhesive. This clear mixture is coated onto the patch, and the active ingredients are absorbed into the skin. Color of patch will depend on your active ingredients, as we use a clear film.
2: The patch material – this can be soft flesh-tone foam, clear or colored printable material for branding purposes.
3: The liner – this is what you peel the patch off of, prior to applying to the skin.
